BERLIN, November 16. /TASS/. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed his plans to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone during his four-way meeting with the leaders of the United States, France and the United Kingdom last month, the Bild newspaper wrote.
Scholz met with US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Berlin on October 18.
According to Bild, the goal of Scholz’s conversation with Putin was to understand whether the Russian leader was ready for talks on Ukraine. The chancellor spoke in German, so the Putin did not need an interpreter. Putin, in turn, replied in Russian.
