WASHINGTON, November 8. /TASS/. US president-elect Donald Trump’s team preparations for transition in the White House is "well under way," a member of the Trump transition team who asked not to be named has told TASS.
"The transition is well under way," he said. "The transition is siloed, low-key, and designed to identify, vet, and place potential appointees ASAP. We want appointees, not 'disappointees'."
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters earlier in the day that the heads of Trump’s transition team, Linda McMahon and Howard Lutnick, have not yet signed a memorandum of understanding with the current White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients.
Officially, the results of the November 5 presidential election have not yet been summarized, but according to US media, Republican Donald Trump, who held the presidency in 2017-2021, won about 300 electoral votes, thus exceeding by far the necessary minimum of 270. He himself has already declared himself the 47th president of the United States. His rival, Democrat Kamala Harris, acknowledged defeat. Trump has been receiving congratulations from foreign leaders.
Trump’s inauguration is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
