Israel misses all chances to establish peace in Middle East — Jordan’s top diplomat

"The path to the security that both Palestinians and Israelis need lies through ending the occupation and establishing a viable Palestinian state," Ayman Hussein Abdullah al-Safadi noted

BERLIN, April 16./TASS/. The ongoing Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip undermines all efforts towards stabilizing the situation in the Middle East and moving on to a peaceful settlement of the conflict, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Hussein Abdullah al-Safadi said.

"The Israeli government bears responsibility for the missed opportunities to establish a lasting peace in the Middle East," the Jordanian top diplomat said at a joint news conference with German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Berlin.

"The path to the security that both Palestinians and Israelis need lies through ending the occupation and establishing a viable Palestinian state," he added.

Al-Safadi, who is also deputy prime minister, said Jordan is ready, together with Germany and the European Union, to deal with the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip and send as much aid there as possible. "However, ending the war in the Gaza Strip and the terrorist actions from Jewish settlers in the West Bank remains the top priority," he pointed out. He called on the international community to "put more pressure on the Israeli government to prevent it from dragging the region into a new spiral of violence."
