CAIRO, April 10. /TASS/. Head of the Hamas Politburo Ismail Haniyeh confirmed that three his sons and several grandchildren were killed in an Israeli strike in the Gaza Strip.
"I thank Allah for the honor that He did me by taking three my sons and several grandchildren," the Hamas leader said, adding that he has lost "at least 60 family members" because of Israeli actions, according to Al Jazeera.
He underscored that his sons "stayed with the Palestinian people" until the end and have not left the Gaza Strip.
The Hamas leader himself currently lives in Doha.
Previously, Al Mayadeen reported that three of Haniyeh’s sons and several grandchildren were killed in an Israeli strike at a refugee camp in the northern part of the Gaza Strip.
The situation in the Middle East sharply worsened after the incursion of militants of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7, 2023, accompanied by the killing of residents of border settlements and hostage-taking. In response, Israel declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and started striking the enclave and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
