MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has betrayed the interests of his people, preferring his own fame in the West and personal gain, so the world is watching his shameful defeat now, Viktor Medvedchuk, the former leader of the Opposition Platform - For Life party (banned in Ukraine) and the current leader of the Other Ukraine movement, has said.
In his column for the Smotrim.ru media platform, Medvedchuk cited the latest data from official Ukrainian sociology which says that Zelensky would inevitably lose the election if it was held. According to the politician, after winning the 2019 election, Zelensky has become "a verdict to the Ukrainian people, Ukrainian statehood and Ukrainian independence," as he has put "himself, his fame and his interests" first, "but not the interests of the country and people."
"The reluctance to heed others, hypertrophied ego and narcissism push Zelensky to pursue the policy against the people," he wrote.
Thus, Zelensky banned any negotiations with Russia.
"It is unbelievable, but now people are being jailed for advocating peace and normalization of relations with neighbors," Medvedchuk stated. Meanwhile, according to the Ukrainian sociological company Sotsis, in March 69.3% of the polled Ukrainians called for talks on various aspects of the conflict and only 24% were against them.
In addition, Medvedchuk pointed out that now Zelensky overtly admits that without the US support, Ukraine will lose the war and throw a scare into other countries by claiming that they will be attacked if this happens. However, Medvedchuk believes that if you "translate this from the language of a politically bankrupt man suffering from severe narcissism," you get the following: "Owing to my stupidity and incompetence, I got sucked into hostilities with a neighboring country, without having any resources to do so. I wanted to borrow these resources from NATO countries, but to my surprise, such are running low. Instead of admitting my mistakes and saying that I proved to be the most incompetent president of Ukraine, I am trying to demonize Russia in the world so as to raise more money for the war."
Meanwhile, according to Medvedchuk, the Ukrainian people realized long ago that it was madness to bet big on the collective West. Active Group, with the help of Sunflower Sociology, published statistics showing that 89.9% of the respondents are dissatisfied with the West. Moreover, sociology shows that the Zelensky regime has brought more suffering on in the country than the war. The sociological agency Rating said that 51% of citizens referred to corruption as a more serious problem in Ukraine than military actions (46%) and that people are worried about rising food prices (30%), tariffs (23%), unemployment (19%) and low pensions (17%).
Plummeting ratings of Ukraine’s government
The Ukrainian government’s ratings are plummeting dramatically, Medvedchuk wrote. The number of those willing to criticize the authorities amid the war in March, according to the Sotsis company, was 52.7% of the polled, whereas 54% of citizens, according to Active Group, stated that the efficiency of Ukraine’s government institutions has decreased in 2023.
Commenting on the sociological data on the growing discontent in the country, Medvedchuk asked rhetorically how Zelensky was going to put the genie back into the bottle.
"With repressions? Ukrainians possess a huge number of weapons, people are enraged, they are desperate, they have no trust in this government. <…> And this is a verdict for Zelensky’s criminal regime," Medvedchuk said.
Zelensky’s political disgrace is not in the least a disgrace to the Ukrainian people, the politician is convinced.
"Zelensky has betrayed these people, duped and humiliated them for personal gain, for his fame in the West, which has already come to an end. Our bad boy is no longer given jam and cookies. They do not pay twice for treachery. One always pays for the betrayal of one’s own people," he concluded.
