UNITED NATIONS, April 9. /TASS/. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres wants to end the conflict in Ukraine while respecting the principle of the country's territorial integrity, the UN chief’s spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
Commenting on reports that former US President Donald Trump, if re-elected, would seek territorial concessions from Kiev to end the conflict, he said: "The Secretary-General's position has remained consistent throughout this conflict. He wants to see an end to the conflict in line with relevant UN resolutions and with full respect for the territorial integrity of Ukraine."
On April 7, the Washington Post quoted its sources as saying that if Trump wins the upcoming presidential election, he intends to seek territorial concessions from Ukraine to end the conflict. According to the newspaper's sources, "Trump's proposal consists of pushing Ukraine to cede Crimea and the Donbass border region to Russia." Earlier, Trump said that if he won the US presidential election, he could end the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours. He did not rule out that Kiev would have to make territorial concessions.
