NEW YORK, February 25. /TASS/. Ukraine’s front-line commanders are increasingly being forced to ration ammunition, limiting their troops’ ability to defend their positions, NBC News reported.
The media outlet particularly attributed ammunition shortages to the difficulties that the US administration is facing in approving a new military aid package for Kiev.
A Ukrainian city mayor told the broadcaster that the Western countries are letting Ukraine down "at one of its most critical moments."
On February 13, the US Senate passed a bill on providing $95 bln in aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. The initiative implies the allocation of over $60 bln to Kiev. However, Republican House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson said that the House was unlikely to take up the bill because it "is silent" on the US southern border issue, the most pressing problem facing the country.
Russia has repeatedly emphasized that Western weapons supplies to Ukraine and assistance in training troops cannot influence the situation on the ground and are only prolonging the conflict.
