IDF says about 200 Hamas targets struck in Gaza Strip in past day

In Jabalia, Israeli forces supported by artillery fire destroyed seven militants and Hamas observation points

TEL AVIV, December 24./TASS/. The Israeli military has attacked about 200 Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip over the past day, the IDF press service reported.

"Over the past day, IDF ground, aerial, and naval forces struck approximately 200 terror targets in the Gaza Strip," it said.

Among other developments, the military discovered a weapons depot housed in civilian infrastructure and conducted an airstrike on a Hamas facility, eliminating a group of militants in the northern part of the enclave, it said. In Jabalia, Israeli forces supported by artillery fire destroyed seven militants and Hamas observation points, the press service said.

"In addition, during a targeted raid on a military command center in Khan Yunis, IDF soldiers located numerous weapons, including dozens of grenades and explosives," the army press service went on to say.

Tensions in the Middle East flared up again on October 7 after militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, killing residents of border communities and taking people hostage, including women, children and the elderly. Israel announced a total blockade of Gaza and started carrying out strikes on targets in the enclave, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
