Davos to host meeting on Ukraine's 'peace formula' in January — Swiss Foreign Ministry

The meeting will be organized jointly by Switzerland and Ukraine

GENEVA, December 11. /TASS/. A meeting of national security advisers devoted to the Ukrainian "peace formula" will be held on January 14 in Davos, Switzerland, Head of Communication at the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs Nicolas Bideau said on X (formerly Twitter).

The meeting will be organized jointly by Switzerland and Ukraine.

"The next meeting of national security advisors on the Ukrainian peace formula will take place in Davos before the WEF (World Economic Forum - TASS) on 14.01.2024. It will be co-hosted by Switzerland and Ukraine. Switzerland is committed to a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine," Bideau stated.

Switzerland, which is neither a NATO nor an EU member, supports the EU sanctions against Russia imposed due to the special military operation in Ukraine. The Russian government approved a list of foreign states and territories committing unfriendly acts against Russia, its companies and citizens last March. The Swiss Confederacy is included in this list.

Three meetings have been held this year in connection with Kiev seeking support for its so-called peace formula. The last of them was held in Malta on October 28-29. According to Ukrainian Presidential Office Head Andrey Yermak, it was attended by representatives of 66 states and international organizations. The first two meetings were held on June 24 in Copenhagen (Denmark) and on August 5-6 in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

Director of the Second Department of CIS Countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Polishchuk emphasized in an interview with TASS that the so-called Copenhagen format is a mechanism invented by Kiev and the West to push through Ukrainian ultimatums, and it is incapable of leading to peace. In his words, the meetings that took place in Copenhagen, Jeddah and Malta had no practical purpose, as Kiev and Washington were merely trying to lure new countries into their "anti-Russian club" and put a damper on really constructive proposals and peace initiatives put forward by other states.
