BEIRUT, December 2. /TASS/. The Israeli air force has attacked positions of Syrian troops near Damascus, the SANA news agency reported, citing a military officer.
According to him, Syrian air defense systems opened fire on enemy targets. "The Syrian anti-aircraft gunners managed to repel the aggressive Israeli attack, most of the enemy's missiles were hit as they approached the capital," the source said.
He specified that the attack on Damascus was carried out at 1:35 a.m. (10 p.m. on December 1 - GMT) from the direction of the occupied Golan Heights. "As a result, damage was inflicted, there were no personnel losses," the source said.
The last time the Israeli air force struck the Damascus suburbs on November 26, the international airport was put out of service. The country's Transportation Ministry announced the transfer of regular flights to the airports of the cities of Aleppo and Latakia due to damage to the runways.
Earlier, the air havens of Aleppo and Damascus were attacked by missiles three times - on October 12, 15 and 22. According to the Syrian Foreign Ministry, "these criminal attacks on civilian targets confirm that Israel is a terrorist state that does not respect international laws.".
