CAIRO, November 17. /TASS/. At least 11,470 people have been killed as a result of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 7, Al Jazeera television reported.
According to the TV channel, the death toll has not been updated for several days due to the collapse of the Palestinian enclave's health system, which collects the data.
On November 12, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported that the death toll from the Israeli shelling amounted to 11,180 civilians, including 4,609 children. Some 28,200 people were injured, the ministry said.
In Israel, the official death toll from the Hamas attack stands at over 1,200 people.
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when Hamas militants staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and taking hostages, including women, children and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
