Armenian foreign ministry lambasts actions of Azerbaijani saboteurs as terrorism

According to the ministry, Azerbaijan continues terror against Nagorno-Karabakh’s Armenian population with an ultimate goal of ethnic purges

YEREVAN, March 5. /TASS/. Armenia’s foreign ministry has lambasted the actions of an Azerbaijani sabotage group claiming the lives of three people as terrorism.

"As a result of the sabotage group’s attack staged by Azerbaijani forces in Nagorno-Karabakh on March 5, three officers of the passport and visa department of Nagorno-Karabakh’s interior ministry, one more person was wounded. Facts prove that it was a provocation plotted the Azerbaijani leadership. The actions of the Azerbaijani sabotage group cannot be qualified as anything but terrorism. The Lachin corridor has been blocked for nearly three months, causing a humanitarian catastrophe. Along with that, Azerbaijan continues terror against Nagorno-Karabakh’s Armenian population with an ultimate goal of ethnic purges," the ministry said.

According to the Armenian foreign ministry, after the UN International Court of Justice satisfied Armenia’s motion against Azerbaijan on February 22, the Azerbaijani side has done nothing to enforce the court’s legally binding ruling, moreover, it has committed more crimes, including against civilians.

"Azerbaijan’s actions demonstrate that guarantees of the rights and security of Nagorno-Karabakh’s population are needed and that international participation in them is needed. Armenia calls on the international community, countries and international organizations that are interested in establishing peace in our region to strongly condemn the use of force and a threat of force by Azerbaijan and to take active measures to prevent Azerbaijan’s further violations of its international commitments," the ministry stressed.

The ministry also called for deploying an international fact-finding mission to the Lachin corridor and Nagorno-Karabakh.
