Zelensky hails China’s intention to contribute to Ukraine-Russia settlement

In addition, Zelensky said meetings with Chinese officials were necessary, and a corresponding diplomatic message had already been sent

KIEV, February 23. /TASS/. China’s statements about a settlement between Ukraine and Russia look positive, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on Thursday after his talks with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

"I know the general things, as the diplomats of our two countries have met. I have not seen the document, but there are some elements. It is still premature to diagnose that document. In general, the fact that China has started to talk about Ukraine and that there have been some signals is very good," he said.

In addition, Zelensky said meetings with Chinese officials were necessary, and a corresponding diplomatic message had already been sent.

"It is very desirable for Ukraine to have meetings with China. We have sent that message with diplomats," he added.

China’s top diplomat Wang Yi outlined China’s vision of the root causes of the Ukraine crisis, as well as the approaches to its political solution, at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday.
