Czech presidential candidate Pavel pledges not to involve the country in war — portal

Petr Pavel won in the first round of the election, which was held on January 13-14, with the support of 35.4% of voters

PRAGUE, January 18. /TASS/. Retired army General Petr Pavel, who is expected to win the second round of the Czech presidential election on January 27-28,"does not wish war on anyone" and will not involve the country in it if elected, the Czech news portal reported on Wednesday.

"As a soldier, I know what war is and I would not wish it on anyone," Pavel said. "As President, I would never dream of involving the Czech Republic and its citizens in war, because I love the Czech Republic," said Pavel. The candidate categorically refuted the opposite point of view spread by his political opponents before the second round of the election. "It’s complete nonsense," he said.

Pavel won in the first round of the election, which was held on January 13-14, with the support of 35.4% of voters. Former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, who also advanced to the second round, received 34.98%. The voter turnout was 68.24%.
