MOSCOW, June 21. /TASS/. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s recent visit to Ukraine was meant to divert attention from weapons supplies to Kiev, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Andrey Kelin said on Tuesday.
"Johnson came there to divert attention from his policy of flooding [Ukraine] with weapons and nothing else," he said in an interview with the Solovyov Live television channel.
The British premier, in his words, apparently wanted to demonstrate London’s intention to continue the conflict in Ukraine. "Johnson’s key task was to demonstrate adamancy, a Margaret Thatcher-style firmness to continue this battle for year and so on. He is intimidating not only the Ukrainians but, as a matter of fact, he is intimidating the Europeans," the Russian diplomat added.
Last week, the British prime minister paid an unannounced visit to Ukraine. He met with President Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev to discuss issues of weapons supplies to Ukraine and training of Ukrainian soldiers in European countries.
