UK sanctions Russian Railways CEO, military, Kalashnikov company

According to the statement of the UK government, the sanctions target "the Generals committing atrocities on the front-line in Ukraine, and individuals and businesses supporting Putin’s military"

LONDON, April 21. /TASS/. The UK authorities have added 26 more individuals and legal entities from the Russian Federation and Ukraine to the sanctions list. An updated version of the document was published on website of the UK government on Thursday.

The UK imposed sanctions against Russian Railways Director General Oleg Belozyorov, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov, First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Nikolay Bogdanovsky, acting Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Chupriyan, and Commander of the Russian Special Operations Forces Valery Flyustikov.

The sanctions list also includes: Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Vice Admiral Arkady Romanov, captain of the cruiser Moskva Anton Kuprin, Ukrainian politician Ilya Kiva, First Deputy Director of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation Sergey Korolyov, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko, CEO of the Tactical missile weapons Boris Obnosov, journalist Alexey Pimanov, commander of the Russian Airborne Forces Andrey Serdyukov, former chief of the General Staff of the Russian Navy Andrey Volozhinsky, wife of businessman Herman Khan Anzhelika Khan, and also Lieutenant Colonel Azatbek Omurbekov, whom the British authorities consider involved in the commission of military crimes in the village of Bucha, Kiev region.

Restrictive measures have been taken against Kalashnikov Concern, Arzamas Machine-Building Plant, Military Industrial Company, GTLK, Russia’s largest leasing company.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. After that the US, the EU, the UK and a number of other states announced that they would impose sanctions against Russian legal entities and individuals.
