The Chinese president said that Beijing was by no means interested in the Ukrainian conflict

BEIJING, March 18. /TASS/. The United States is obliged to bear the responsibility for maintaining world peace and stability alongside China, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Friday.

"China and the United States are permanent members of the UN Security Council and the world’s two leading economies. We should diligently bear international responsibility and exert efforts for ensuring peace and calm the world over," China’s central television quotes Xi as saying during a conversation with US President Joe Biden by video link.

The Chinese leader said that Beijing was by no means interested in the Ukrainian conflict.

"The international situation is undergoing major and important changes. The era of peace and development is confronted with serious provocations and challenges," he stressed.

Xi stated that time was ripe for putting Sino-US relations "on the normal track."
