Russian servicemen deliver humanitarian aid to settlement in northern Syria

The servicemen arrived on several trucks to distribute food sets to residents of the Al-Eiss settlement in Aleppo province

AL-EISS /Syria/, August 3. /TASS/. Russian servicemen from the Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria have delivered humanitarian aid to residents of the Al-Eiss settlement in Aleppo province, an on-site TASS correspondent reported.

The servicemen arrived on several trucks to distribute food sets to the local residents.

"Those food products that they delivered to us are very important to us. We have very little food. Husbands are at work around the clock. And we remain with children. And sometimes there is nothing to feed them," a local resident Saphara Anni Muhammed told Russian reporters.

According to head of the local administration Muhammed Abu Sain, militants have looted the settlement earlier. "They have taken away everything we had. And now thanks to Russian friends the militants left. We are being supported. And this is important to us," he asserted. This is the first delivery of the humanitarian aid to the settlement. It is planned to make regular deliveries.

Earlier, this province in northern Syria was the stage of the armed clashes of Syria’s government army with the Islamist militants. The province was rid of the terrorist groups with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

According to the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties, since the beginning of the settlement process there have already been 2,973 humanitarian deliveries. The total weight of the humanitarian cargo amounts to over 5,200 tonnes. Usually, the food sets include flour, rice, sugar, condensed milk, tea.
