RIO DE JANEIRO, August 13. /TASS/. Russian men’s team - Timur Safin, Aleksei Cheremisinov and Artur Akhmatkhuzin - has won the gold in the foil fencing tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
In the final Russians outperformed France by 45 points to 41. The United States has the bronze.
This is Russian foil fencers’ first team victory since the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. The head coach of the Russian team, Ilgar Mamedov, was one of those who won the gold.
By now Russia has won 22 medals - five golds, 9 silvers and 8 bronzes.
