Recheck of Russian weightlifter Aukhadov tests positive for doping

BUDAPEST, June 16. /TASS/. Reanalysis of samples from the 2012 London Olympic Games of Russian weightlifter Apti Aukhadov has returned positive results for doping, the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) said on its website on Thursday.

Aukhadov won the 2012 Olympic silver medal in men 85 category. His samples tested positive for Dehydrochloromethyltestosterone, Drostanolone (S1.1 Anabolic agents).

In all, the samples from the 2012 Olympics of ten weightlifters, including four Olympic champions from Kazakhstan, tested doping-positive in a recheck. Along with Aukhadov, the list includes Boyanka Kostova (Azerbaijan), Svetlana Podobedova (Kazakhstan, 2012 Olympic gold medalist in women 75 category), Dzina Sazanavets (Belarus), Maryna Shkermankova (Belarus, bronze medalist in women 69 category), Yuliya Kalina (Ukraine, bronze medalist in women 58 category), Yauheni Zharnasek (Belarus), Maiya Maneza (Kazakhstan, gold medalist in women 63 category), Ilya Ilyin (Kazakhstan, gold medalist in men 94 category), and Zulfiya Chinshanlo (Kazakhstan, gold medalist in women 53 category).

If Kazakhstan’s Ilyin is stripped off his 2012 Olympic gold medal, it will go over to Russia’s Alexander Ivanov. In such case, Podobedova’s gold medal will go over to Russia’s Natalia Zabolotnaya and Maneza’s gold is to go over to Russia’s Svetlana Tsarukayeva.

All the athletes suspected of doping taking have been temporarily suspended from competitions.
