Russians win 10 medals at World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Budapest

The gold medals for the Russians were won by Miron Lifintsev, Ilya Borodin

BUDAPEST, December 16. /TASS/. The Russians won six gold and four silver medals at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Budapest.

The gold medals for the Russians were won by Miron Lifintsev (50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke), Ilya Borodin (400m individual medley). The Russians also won gold in the 4x50m and 4x100m mixed medley relay, as well as in the men's 4x100m medley relay.

Silver medals were won by Kirill Prigoda (50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke) and Evgeniya Chikunova (200m breaststroke).

In the unofficial medal count, the Russians ranked second. The first was the US team, which won 18 gold, 13 silver and 8 bronze medals. The Canadians ranked third winning 4 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals.

Russian swimmers competed at the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in neutral status. A total of 27 swimmers from Russia competed in the tournament. In September 2023, the World Aquatics announced the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to competitions under the auspices of the organization, subject to a number of conditions, including competing in neutral status.
