WASHINGTON, March 27. /TASS/. The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) has reversed its decision to stop funding the media corporation Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL, recognized as a foreign agent media outlet in Russia and included in the undesirable organizations list), according to a document submitted to the electronic database of the Court of the Columbia District.
A letter from USAGM Senior Advisor Kari Lake to RFE/RL President Stephen Capus reveals that the March 15 order terminating the US government's funding of the media corporation has been revoked. It also states that the grant agreement has been restored. However, the agency emphasized that it reserves the "authority to terminate the grant at a later date if USAGM were to determine that such termination was appropriate under the applicable law."
Earlier, RFE/RL sued USAGM and two of its officials for attempting to terminate a grant approved by the US Congress. On March 16, the media corporation confirmed receiving the termination document from the US government.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order on March 14 to significantly scale back USAGM and several other government agencies. USAGM oversees the RFE/RL media corporation and the Voice of America radio station. Elon Musk, who runs the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), called on the US government in February to stop funding the RFE/RL media corporation and the Voice of America radio station.
