SIMFEROPOL, February 5. /TASS/. Three members of a cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir (recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia and banned), who recruited some supporters in Crimea, have been put into custody, the press service of the FSB federal security service’s office in Crimea and Sevastopol has said.
A court in Simferopol has remanded three suspects in custody for two months, the press service said.
A measure of restraint for two more suspects will be elected on February 6.
On Wednesday, the FSB reported the detention in Crimea of five Russian nationals - all members of a local cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir. They were spreading among Crimea’s Muslims the ideology of the international terrorist organization based on the doctrine of a so-called world Caliphate and recruited new supporters at underground meetings.
The cell members’ homes were searched and a large amount of propaganda materials banned in Russia, communication equipment and electronic media used in terrorist activities were seized. The FSB’s investigative office in Crimea and Sevastopol launched criminal proceedings.
