MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. More than 2,400 people have been evacuated from flooded areas of Orsk in the Orenburg Region, the region’s government wrote on its Telegram channel.
"The most difficult flood situation is in Orsk. <...> As many as 2,467 people have been evacuated, including 704 children," it blogged.
According to the authorities, 1,455 people, including 223 children, are staying at 16 temporary accommodation centers, and another 33 temporary accommodation centers are ready to house more people if necessary.
The dam broke in Orsk, the second largest city in the Orenburg Region, overnight to April 6. According to the latest updates, more than 10,000 houses and almost 18,700 household plots have been partially flooded in the region, including in Orenburg. About 6,500 people have been evacuated from the flooded areas. A federal emergency has been declared in the region. The flood peak in Orenburg is expected on April 10.
