Polish freight carriers to resume blockade of border with Ukraine from March 1 — radio

According to Maciej Wronski, Polish freight carriers have been demanding that licenses be mandated for Ukrainian freight carriers operating in Poland since November of last year, since the unregulated operations of Ukrainian truckers is squeezing Polish transport companies out of the market

MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Polish freight carriers intend to resume their blockade of border crossings with Ukraine in the Subcarpathian and Lublin provinces from March 1, the RMF FM radio station reports.

"We had a promise from the [Polish] Ministry of Infrastructure that a draft law would be developed to strengthen control over Ukrainian freight carriers. The next [several] weeks have passed, [but] there is no bill," Polish Union of Transport and Logistics Chairman Maciej Wronski said, as quoted by the radio station. "If nothing changes on this issue by Thursday, the number of protests [and their scale] on the border with Ukraine can only become even greater," he added.

According to him, Polish freight carriers have been demanding that licenses be mandated for Ukrainian freight carriers operating in Poland since November of last year, since the unregulated operations of Ukrainian truckers is squeezing Polish transport companies out of the market.

During the new protest action by Polish transport workers, border crossings at Dorohuska, Hreben and Korczow, and possibly at Medyk, will again be blocked, RMF FM reports.

Since November of last year, Polish freight carriers and farmers have periodically held protests, blocking checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. They are demanding the revocation of the benefits extended by the European Union to truckers from Ukraine after February 24, 2022.
