WSJ says 'deeply concerned' over detention of its reporter in Russia

It is reported that Evan Gershkovich covers Russia and is assigned to the newspaper’s Moscow bureau

NEW YORK, March 30. /TASS/. The Wall Street Journal expressed concern over the detention of its reporter Evan Gershkovich in Yekaterinburg on charges of espionage.

"The Wall Street Journal is deeply concerned for the safety of Mr. Gershkovich," the newspaper said in a statement published on its website on Thursday.

According to the WSJ, Gershkovich covers Russia and is assigned to the newspaper’s Moscow bureau.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) told TASS earlier that it had detained Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich on suspicion of espionage. Investigators have launched a criminal case against the US citizen under Article 276 of the Russian Criminal Code (Espionage).
