Ukrainian film director Loznitsa speaks against boycott of Russian culture

Every person should be assessed by his own merit, he said

PARIS, May 24. /TASS/. Ukrainian film director Sergey Loznitsa at the Cannes Film Festival condemned calls to boycott Russian culture.

"This position is inhuman," he was quoted as saying by Agence France-Presse. "People should be judged by what they say and do. Every person should be assessed by his own merit."

Polish film director Agnieszka Holland earlier criticized the Cannes Film Festival for including a film by Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov in its program. She said in an interview to the Washington Post now isn’t the time to honor films made in Russia using Russian money.
