MOSCOW, May 11. /TASS/. Omicron coronavirus BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants have not been detected in Russia, the press service of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing reported on Wednesday.
"The BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants have already been discovered in the US and several European countries. To date, in Russia, these subvariants have not been detected," the statement said.
The agency noted that these subvariants are more contagious, therefore nowadays, it is particularly important to observe anti-epidemic measures.
"Another Omicron subvariant, BA.2.12.1, is actively spreading in North America. It is also more capable of ‘evading’ earlier formed antibodies," the sanitary watchdog added.
