Russian watchdog limits access to Human Rights Watch’s website

According to the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, the material containing inaccurate socially significant information about the course of the special military operation in Ukraine is subject to removal, Roskomnadzor informed

MOSCOW, April 19. /TASS/. Russia’s mass media and communications watchdog has restricted access to the Internet resource of the American-based NGO Human Rights Watch (HRW) due to the publication of material containing false information about the special operation in Ukraine, the watchdog’s press service reported on Tuesday.

"At the request of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, Russia’s media watchdog (Roskomnadzor) restricted access to the Internet resource of the American organization Human Rights Watch. According to the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, the material containing inaccurate socially significant information about the course of the special military operation in Ukraine is subject to removal," the message says.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Justice excluded 15 institutions from the registry of branches and representative offices of foreign non-profit non-governmental organizations (NGOs) due to their violation of Russian laws. Among the excluded organizations are the representative offices of the Carnegie Endowment, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the branches of nine German, Polish, American and Swiss non-governmental organizations.
