MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/. The tenth InClassica International Music Festival will kick off in Dubai on Saturday, featuring prominent musicians including Denis Matsuev, Mikhail Pletnev, Maxim Vengerov, Alexander Knyazev and other representatives of the Russian academic school, the show's organizers told TASS.
The anniversary InClassica was supposed to take place in the spring in its usual location — Malta, however, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was decided to postpone the festival.
"For four weeks, Dubai will become the music capital of the world since InClassica will bring together true stars at its venues. The concerts will take place every day, and not only in the evening — during the daytime our guests can enjoy the performances of our members of the Middle East Academy of Classical Music together with symphony orchestras and famous soloists," said President of European Foundation for the Support of Culture (EUFSC) Konstantin Ishkhanov.
A record number of performers
The festival which will last until September 26 will bring together 37 soloists, seven orchestras and 12 conductors. “For the first time, the festival will bring together so many classical music stars at the same time,” the organizers emphasized. The announced performances include pianists Denis Matsuev, Rudolf Buchbinder and Andrey Gugnin, conductors Mikhail Pletnev and Alexander Sladkovsky, violinists Maxim Vengerov, Daniel Hope, Daniil Lozakovich and Sergei Dogadin, cellist Alexander Knyazev and many others. The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia, the Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra, the German State Philharmonic Orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate will perform on stage.
“I have heard a lot about this festival, and not only because of the large number of famous musicians who performed in it, but also because of its atmosphere. Many of my friends performed at this festival and always spoke very warmly of it. I will be performing at InClassica festival for the first time and I look forward to meeting the audience," said Denis Matsuev as quoted by the press service of the festival.
The dates of the festival and an impressive list of famous soloists made it possible to create a diverse program, in which everyone will find the works of their favorite composer, the organizers of InClassica noted. The festival will feature music by Bach, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Bruch, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Ravel, Beethoven, Verdi, Dvorak, Khachaturian, Saint-Saens, Shostakovich, Stravinsky, Bartok. "Along with the works of classical authors, the works of the resident composer of the festival Alexei Shor will be presented. The composer is also a resident of the Malta Philharmonic Academy and the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia," the organizing committee noted.
An important part of the festival will be an educational program: on September 4-23, the Middle East Academy of Classical Music will be held in Dubai, in which a musician of any age can participate. Master classes will be conducted by leading teachers from all over the world: Rudolf Buchbinder (Germany), Dmitry Alekseev (Great Britain), Boris Kushnir (Austria), Pavel Gililov (Germany / Austria), Maxim Vengerov (Monaco), Alexander Ramm (Russia), Maxim Rubtsov (Russia). The best students of the Academy will have the opportunity to perform at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray Concert Hall on the Palm Jumeirah.
The festival is organized by European Foundation for the Support of Culture (EUFSC) and SAMIT Event Group. The festival venues will include Dubai Opera and Coca-Cola Arena.
