Putin places responsibility for Malaysian jet crash on Ukraine

“This tragedy would have never happened, if combat operation had not been resumed in Ukraine’s southeastern regions,” Putin said

MOSCOW, July 18, /ITAR-TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has put responsibility for the crash of a Malaysian Airlines Boeing that took place on Thursday on Ukraine.

“Obviously, the state over which this incident took place is responsible for this terrible tragedy,” Putin said late on Thursday. “This tragedy would have never happened should this land was peaceful, if combat operation had not been resumed in Ukraine’s southeastern regions.”

Putin asked the Russian government to do its best to get an objective picture of the incident. “We must to our best to see to it that the objective picture is part of the public domain here, in Ukraine and in the rest of the world,” he said, adding that he had already ordered agencies concerned “to offer all possible assistance in the investigation of this crime.”

The Russian president also expressed condolences on behalf of the Russian government to the families of those killed in the catastrophe and the governments of those countries whose citizens happened to be onboard the ill-fortune jet.
