US not ready for serious conversation about Ukraine — Russian diplomat

Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna added that calls for talks from the United States can hardly be trusted

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. The United States is currently not ready for serious talks on Ukraine, said Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation at the Vienna talks on military security and arms control.

"We are ready for serious, straightforward talks, but I personally has not heard any signals of this kind while here, in Vienna. But we’ll see. I don’t see that Americans or Westerners here were in any form ready for talks," he told Soloviev Live on Thursday night.

Gavrilov added that calls for talks from the United States can hardly be trusted.

"On the one hand, they declare their readiness for negotiations, on the other - they announce that they are sending Abrams tanks [to Ukraine] and prod the Germans to do the same. I don’t think that our country can fall to such tricks," he said.
