MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. The global situation has become significantly difficult, with new pockets of instability emerging along the borders of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an address to participants in the 58th meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services.
"Today, the military and political situation across the world has become significantly difficult. A serious crisis has engulfed the Middle East. New pockets of instability have emerged, including near our borders. In this regard, it’s crucial to use the analytical, personnel, operational, and technical capabilities of your agencies in the most effective manner in order to ensure reliable protection of the Commonwealth against potential internal and external threats, regularly share information and develop unified approaches to addressing common challenges," the head of state pointed out.
Putin noted that the meeting’s participants were expected to thoroughly discuss a wide range of professional issues, including the most effective ways to combat terrorism, extremism, cross-border organized crime, cybercrime and other fundamental security threats.
"I am confident that the outcome of the meeting will contribute to ensuring the safe and stable development of our countries and people," the Russian president concluded.
