Kiev targets Russia to 'create negative backdrop' around settlement in Ukraine — diplomat

Rodion Miroshnik drew attention to Ukraine's new attempt to attack civilian targets in the Rostov Region

MOSCOW, March 24. /TASS/. Kiev aims to 'form a negative backdrop' around the launched Russia-US consultations on resolving the Ukraine conflict by attacking civilian facilities in the Rostov Region, said Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large in charge of overseeing the Kiev regime's crimes.

The diplomat drew attention to Ukraine's new attempt to attack civilian targets in the Rostov Region. Russian air defenses destroyed Ukrainian drones in Aksaysky, Oktyabrsky, Krasnosulinsky, Ust-Donetsky, Zernogradsky, Myasnikovsky districts, as well as in the city of Novoshakhtinsk and on the approach to Rostov, Miroshnik wrote on his Telegram channel.

"In any case, the Kiev regime’s real actions, its relentless attempts to form a negative backdrop around the initiated consultations on settlement demonstrate its true intent better than any words. Surely, [Vladimir] Zelensky speaks the words Washington would like to hear, but the actions of the Ukrainian army on the ground reveal a different approach," he said.

On Monday, delegations from Russia and the United States will hold talks on resolving the Ukraine conflict in Riyadh. The Russian delegation will be led by Grigory Karasin, the head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, and Sergey Beseda, adviser to the director of Russia's Federal Security Service. The US delegation is expected to include the State Department’s Director of Policy Planning Michael Anton, as well as aides to Special Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
