Witkoff to be invited to Kremlin after signal from Putin — presidential aide

Yury Ushakov declined to predict the exact duration of the meeting

MOSCOW, March 13. /TASS/. Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov has announced that President Vladimir Putin's meeting with the US leader's special envoy, Steven Witkoff, will take place today as planned.

"When the president indicates that he is ready to begin negotiations with Witkoff, the envoy will be invited to the Kremlin for their meeting," Ushakov stated.

He declined to predict the exact duration of the meeting, noting, "It is hard to say."

Earlier it was reported that Putin's conversation with Witkoff would be held behind closed doors.

The American special envoy’s plane landed at Vnukovo-2 airport at about 12:31 p.m. Moscow time (9:31 a.m. GMT) on Thursday. Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the US negotiators in charge of the Ukrainian settlement were flying to Russia for talks due on Thursday.

On March 12, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Witkoff would travel to Moscow to discuss a settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
