LUGANSK, March 13. /TASS/. The recapture of Sudzha by Russian troops will enable the complete dislodgment of Ukrainian forces from the Kursk Region and facilitate the establishment of a buffer zone in the neighboring Sumy Region of Ukraine, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS.
"From a military perspective, the liberation of Sudzha has demonstrated to the global community the skill and proficiency of both our command staff and rank-and-file servicemen, who have driven the enemy from their homeland not only at the cost of their sweat and blood, but also through their expertise. I believe our command's primary objective is to completely eradicate the Ukrainian militants from the Kursk Region and to create a buffer zone in the Sumy Region. By the way, our supreme commander-in-chief, President Vladimir Putin, mentioned this recently," he stated.
Marochko explained that with the liberation of the Kursk Region some Russian troops may be redeployed to various areas within the special military operation zone.
"Some of our forces and resources will become available for deployment elsewhere. They can be reassigned to any location to bolster our advanced assault units, which are engaged in liberating the Lugansk People's Republic, the Donetsk People's Republic, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions," he added.
On March 12, President Putin visited one of the command centers of the Kursk group of the Russian Armed Forces. He received a report from the Chief of the General Staff, Valery Gerasimov regarding the successes of Russian troops in the Kursk area and tasked them with swiftly defeating the remaining Ukrainian armed forces in the region. On March 13, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the fighters of the Northern battle group had taken Sudzha.
