Interior Ministry bans more than 200,000 foreign nationals from entering Russia in 2024

The work on restricting the entry of foreign citizens who do not comply with Russian legislation has been stepped up, Interior Ministry Spokeswoman Irina Volk said

MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. The Interior Ministry has banned more than 200,000 foreign nationals from entering Russia this year, which is almost 70,000 more than last year, Interior Ministry Spokeswoman Irina Volk has said.

"The work on restricting the entry of foreign citizens who do not comply with Russian legislation has been stepped up. With regard to this category of persons the police made 208,000 decisions to deny entry into Russia, which is 69,900 more than in the first 10 months of 2023," she said.

According to the official, active work on revealing and preventing abuse by foreign citizens of the right to obtain temporary residence permits, residence permits and citizenship through a simplified procedure, carried out by the territorial offices of the Interior Ministry, contributed to the reduction in the number of temporary residence permits issued to foreign nationals by 48.1% and residence permits by 19.7%.
