Russian embassy in London denies allegations of spreading rumors about Princess Kate

The Russian diplomatic mission wished "Her Royal Highness a swift and comprehensive recovery"

LONDON, March 27. /TASS/. Russian authorities have never made any unverified claims about the health of Princess Catherine of Wales, the wife of Prince William, who is first in line to the British throne, the Russian embassy to the UK said in a statement.

Earlier, The Daily Telegraph reported citing sources that the British government believes that Iran, China and Russia may be spreading disinformation about Princess Kate. However, the newspaper did not cite any evidence of Russia’s possible involvement in spreading rumors about the member of the Royal Family.

"Russia categorically rejects baseless accusations by anonymous 'Whitehall sources' of supposedly 'fueling disinformation about the Princess of Wales.' The lively social media interest across Russia and countries around the world regarding some photos of the Princess, circulated by Kensington Palace, should not be maliciously misinterpreted as 'foreign interference' aimed against the Royal Family. This is not and has never been our policy," the Russian embassy wrote in the statement published on Telegram.

The Russian diplomatic mission emphasized, "We wish Her Royal Highness a swift and comprehensive recovery."

The 42-year-old wife of Prince William underwent abdominal surgery in January, and was then recommended to continue her recovery for some time. Since then, she has not been seen in public in almost two months, and no photos or videos of her have been published either. This generated a wave of rumors across the UK.

Her health condition came into the spotlight after Kensington Palace released a photo featuring the Princess of Wales with her three children around her, which appeared to have been edited. On March 22, the Princess of Wales said in a video address that she was undergoing medical treatment for cancer.
