MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg on December 25, where a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran is expected to be signed, presidential aide Yury Ushakov said.
Apart from that, according to Ushakov, Putin will attend an informal meeting of CIS leaders on December 26.
"On December 25, St. Petersburg will host a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Additionally, a traditional informal pre-New Year’s meeting of CIS leaders will be held. These two events will be held on December 25 and 26, respectively," he said.
The EAEU summit is expected to yield a free trade agreement with Iran. "Such a document is being drafted and I can tell you that it will be signed. It has a great significance in the context of the development of economic, and not only economic ties between Iran and the EAEU countries. And, naturally, this document will be important for our bilateral ties. This document is practically ready and we will sign it either before or during the summit," Ushakov said.
