Kiev brings Colombian mercenaries to Ukraine under construction job cover — document

Evidence was found on the phone of Colombian mercenary Jose Luis Pocheco Navarra

DONETSK, March 12. /TASS/. The Kiev authorities are recruiting Colombian nationals to the Ukrainian army through mediators, falsely claiming they are supposed to work construction, as evidenced from a document found on the phone of Colombian mercenary Jose Luis Pocheco Navarra, who has recently surrendered to Russian forces.

The document, available to TASS, contains a request by Ivan Fyodorov, head of the Zaporozhye Region’s military administration, that Colombian citizens be engaged in construction and restoration works in the region. "There's a need for unskilled workers, including general laborers and spare hands, in order to speed up work, which requires a request to facilitate the entry to Ukraine for Colombian nationals," the document reads.

The captive told TASS the document made it clear what official explanations Kiev provided to the Colombian authorities. According to Navarra, participation in construction works in Ukraine is the main pretext for sending mercenaries from Colombia to Ukraine.

The families of the mercenaries fighting for Ukraine also believe that their loved ones are only working construction. "You went there to work at a construction site, didn’t you? How come you ended up in trouble like that, son?" Navarra’s mother asked him in a message.
