Russia and Belarus' security concept needed in light of changing circumstances — Kremlin

"Those previously veiled threats are now brought forward, all masks have been ripped off, and it is therefore vital to position our approach toward everything that is happening in a right manner," he said

MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Approaches to ensuring the security of Russia and Belarus have become outdated in the light of changing conditions and new threats, so it was decided to prepare a security concept for the Union State, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with Rossiya 1 TV channel.

"It is now clear that the old outlines of the security concept are no longer valid, that they are already outdated, because the environment has changed beyond recognition, and new threats have emerged. Those previously veiled threats are now brought forward, all masks have been ripped off, and it is therefore vital to position our approach toward everything that is happening in a right manner," he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the creation of such document earlier. According to him, the concept is intended to reflect the essential cooperation tasks between Moscow and Minsk in the context of rising tensions at their borders, as well as the sanctions and information war waged against them. According to Peskov, the document will be ready as quickly as feasible.
