Grain deal results necessary before considering its extension — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov also stated that the agreement will expire on November 19

MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. The work on the grain deal continues, and the results are required before evaluating the possibility of extending it, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"As for the possibility of extending [the grain deal], the work continues," he said, adding that it primarily includes "the part of the agreement meant to assure the elimination of restrictions on the delivery of Russian products to international markets." "Experts are working hard, and constructive contacts are being established with the UN. Let's wait for the results in the next days," Peskov added.

Peskov also stated that the agreement will expire on November 19. "If I'm not mistaken," he said.

Food export agreements from Ukraine were signed on July 22 for a period of 120 days until November 19, with an automatic extension for another 120 days if none of the parties (Russia, the UN, Ukraine, and Turkey) object. Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin told reporters that the issue of extending the grain deal was still being worked out.
