US, NATO would like everyone forget about their crimes in Afghanistan, UN envoy says

According to Vasily Nebenzya, "such cynicism is nothing new; it is a typical attitude of the US and its allies to war crimes they committed in other crisis flashpoints, including Iraq, Syria and Libya"

UNITED NATIONS, November 10. /TASS/. Investigation of US and NATO crimes in Afghanistan are not carried out because of the blatant blackmail by Washington, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said, speaking at the UN General Assembly meeting Thursday.

"The West would like everyone to forget about the irresponsible actions of US and NATO military, who regularly carried indiscriminate airstrikes on ordinary Afghans. Not to mention the night raids and extrajudicial murder of civilians, including women and children," Nebenzya said. "By the way, BBC wrote about it once again just recently. Unfortunately, despite the reports of various independent non-governmental organizations about the horrible war crimes that aim to achieve justice and to bring those guilty to responsibility, no investigations took place due to blatant blackmail from Washington."

According to the diplomat, "such cynicism is nothing new; it is a typical attitude of the US and its allies to war crimes they committed in other crisis flashpoints, including Iraq, Syria and Libya."

"Considering all this, our Western colleagues’ attempt to emphasize only the issue of human rights violations, carried out by the de-facto authorities, appear hypocritical," the representative pointed out.
