Arms shipments to Ukraine carry risks for civilian aviation — Russian envoy

Meanwhile, Mikhail Ulyanov noted that Western states begin to comprehend the seriousness of problems, connected to the shipments of weapons to Kiev

MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. Western shipments of weapons to Ukraine, including missile air defense systems, may carry risks for international civilian aviation, Russian Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said on Russian TV Tuesday.

"They ship very dangerous types of weapons, which were very seriously controlled previously, including man-portable missile air defense systems. Now, they can very easily get into terrorists’ hands, and it’s a mortal threat to international civilian aviation," he said, commenting on Western arms shipments to Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ulyanov noted that Western states begin to comprehend the seriousness of problems, connected to the shipments of weapons to Kiev.

"I have a feeling that many gradually comprehend the abnormality of the current situation. With satisfaction, I’ve heard the words of the EU representative that more attention should be paid to uncontrolled circulation of weapons, especially in Ukraine in Moldova, during the recent conference on crime. It does not mean that they plan to reduce their arms shipments to Ukraine, but it seems like comprehension of associated problems is coming," the envoy said.
