Russia may impose sanctions on UK broadcaster - ambassador

"So far, we do not quite understand and have no information on what those sanctions against VGTRK would actually imply, but I assure you that we will sort out this matter," Kelin added

MOSCOW, May 5. /TASS/. Moscow may impose sanctions on a UK broadcaster in response to London’s decision to sanction Russian broadcaster VGTRK and several Russian journalists for their coverage of the events in Ukraine, Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrey Kelin told the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Thursday.

"The same sanctions that will be imposed on Russia’s VGTRK, will be introduced by the Russian government against a UK broadcasting company," he said.

"So far, we do not quite understand and have no information on what those sanctions against VGTRK would actually imply, but I assure you that we will sort out this matter," Kelin added.

According to a statement from the UK Foreign Office, circulated on Wednesday, the UK government has expanded anti-Russian sanctions, blacklisting the VGTRK All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company and certain journalists from Russia for covering the developments in Ukraine.
