US allocated $350 mln to Ukraine for research in Pentagon’s interests — Russian top brass

The Department of State and the Department of Defense are the customers and sponsors of the Ukrainian scientific and technological center on the US behalf

MOSCOW, April 14. /TASS/. The United States has allocated over $350 million in the past few years to the Ukrainian scientific and technological center that distributed grants for research in the Pentagon’s interests in the field of biological weapons, Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops Igor Kirillov said on Thursday.

"In recent years alone, Washington has spent over $350 million on implementing projects of the Ukrainian scientific and technological center," he said.

The Department of State and the Department of Defense are the customers and sponsors of the Ukrainian scientific and technological center on the US behalf. The projects are also financed through the Environmental Protection Agency, the Departments of Agriculture, Health and Energy, Kirillov specified.

The chief of Russia’s radiation, chemical and biological protection troops cited as an example a document of March 11, 2022, drawn up by Western patrons of the Ukrainian scientific and technological center, which said that they witnessed an outflow of scientific experts in the field of developing delivery vehicles and advanced armaments who worked at Ukrainian organizations and also experts in the field of developing biological, radiological, chemical and nuclear weapons.

As the document further said, the most skilled specialists with the experience of work with dual materials and technologies (their number varied between 1,000 and 4,000) found themselves in unfavorable professional and financial conditions. This made them vulnerable to switching to the side of other states for participating in programs of developing weapons of mass destruction, delivery vehicles and other armaments, Kirillov pointed out.

"By using these formulations, Washington actually acknowledges that Ukrainian experts are carrying our works on creating the means of delivering and using weapons of mass destruction and deems it expedient to continue their financing," Kirillov stressed.
