Moscow still open to dialogue with Washington on cybersecurity

The Russian deputy foreign minister recalled that it is Russia that plays a leading role in international efforts to strengthen stability in the information field and launch a specialized negotiation process under the auspices of the UN to establish a fair international legal regime

MOSCOW, March 23. /TASS/. Russia is always open to a professional and depoliticized dialogue with the US on information security, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov told TASS.

"We are always open to a professional and depoliticized dialogue with foreign partners, including the US - of course, strictly on the basis of equal standing. The stepping stone for this is the UN General Assembly Resolution 76/19, adopted on the initiative of Russia and the US, laying the foundations for the establishment of a solid system of international information security," he said.

Syromolotov recalled that it is Russia that plays a leading role in international efforts to strengthen stability in the information field and launch a specialized negotiation process under the auspices of the UN to establish a fair international legal regime. "The main task is to prevent the transformation of the ICT environment into an arena for interstate confrontation and to guarantee the use of these technologies for the benefit of the development of all countries," the deputy foreign minister concluded.
