Russia carries out effort to bring back citizens stranded abroad — diplomat

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russia is arranging the evacuation of its nationals stuck in European countries, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov told reporters on Monday.

"It is being worked out. There is an instruction from the government in this regard, and the Ministry of Transport, the Federal Tourism Agency, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are engaged in this. The work is underway," he said, answering the relevant question.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin in response to the appeal of the leaders of the republics of Donbass, decided to conduct a special military operation. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories. The Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure. There are no threats whatsoever to the civilian population.

The UK was the first to close the airspace for Russian aircraft on the night of February 25. On February 27, the foreign ministers of the 27 EU countries approved the complete closure of the community's airspace for Russia.
