MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. Courts in Moscow have levied a conservatory attachment on property and assets of businessman of Ukrainian origin, Vice President of the World Jewish Congress, Eduard Shifrin, who is accused of fraud, according to case materials seen by TASS.
"The court held that the motion on arresting property of defendant Shifrin E.V. be sustained," according to the materials. The businessman is accused under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (large-scale fraud).
Shifrin, whose fortune exceeds $1 bln by various estimates, has been put on a wanted list under another article, according to the Russian Interior Ministry’s search base. Previously he was wanted in October 2023.
The businessman was granted Russian citizenship in October 2016. In 2022, after the onset of the special military operation, he applied to the Russian embassy on renunciation of Russian citizenship. He lives outside of the Russian Federation.
