ST.PETERSBURG, April 28. /TASS/. A female passenger of a motor boat, who was taken ashore after the vessel capsized in the Gulf of Finland on Saturday night, has died in hospital, the Russian Investigative Committee’s northwestern transport department told TASS.
"The woman died in hospital," a spokesperson said. Five other passengers remain hospitalized, while two persons were sent home after receiving medical assistance.
Late on April 27, a small motor boat with nine people on board reportedly lost its way and started sinking in the Gulf of Finland near St. Petersburg. The vessel capsized and the rescuers took eight people ashore. A search for one missing person continues.
A criminal investigation was launched into violating safety rules. According to a source in the city’s emergency services, the incident could have been caused by strong winds.
